Ardex D20 (10 Litre)

Ardex D20 is a ready to use internal wall tile adhesive. It is specifically formulated with high bond, non-slip properties to allow all types of tile to be fixed on all types of wall substrate in dry and intermittently wet interior locations. Ardex D20 is ready-mixed and requires no primer, which allows for a cost effective, quick and easy installation process. It also has a 20-minute open time and 40-minute tile adjustability time allowance - ideal for both tilling professionals and DIY enthusiasts. Recommended for use in kitchens bathrooms and domestic showers.

Instructions for use

• Ensure the surface is clean; free from dust, dirt, oil and grease as well as weakly adhered paint coatings, whitewash and other friable materials
• Ensure that the wall substrate is strong enough to support the weight of the tiles being fixed and 100% dry.
  (Note. Plaster surfaces that are dry and firm can be tiled directly with ARDEX D20, but in all cases the plaster must be of sufficient strength to carry the weight of the tiling
  If using Ardex D20 in wet areas, use BAL WP1 waterproofing kit or Ardex WPC waterproof tanking system to first waterproof the area
• Ardex D20 is a ready to use adhesive and so can be immediately applied to the wall using a notched trowel
  (The size of notched trowel chosen, depends on the tile size, the surface being tiled, the profile on the back of the tile and the degree of coverage required - check out our wide range of trowels)
• Comb to required bed thickness ensuring ribs all run in one direction
  (Note. if fixing tiles to walls or in wet environments, apply additional adhesive to the tile reverse)
• Fix the tiles before the adhesive forms a skin (typically 20 minutes at 20°C)
  (Note. if skin forms, remove adhesive and apply fresh layer)
• Press tile firmly into the ribs of the adhesive and into position, with slight twisting/sliding action to ensure optimum adhesive contact (can be adjusted for 40 minutes after initial positioning)
• Ensure you have left adequate joint spaces between tiles for grouting
• Clean off surplus adhesive from tile face and between tile joints

Recommendations

In frequently used showers, e.g. changing rooms and in power showers, use ARDEX D30 or BAL White Star. Ardex D20 and Ardex D30 are not suitable for use in on slate, quarry or terracotta tiles; in this case use BAL White Star.
