Rapid Porcelain & Stone Adhesive is a rapid setting, cement based, thin bed wall and floor tile adhesive; designed for fixing fully vitrified porcelain, ceramic and natural stone tiles to a variety of different substrates, including plywood overlay. Rapid Porcelain & Stone Adhesive contains unique Rock-Tite^TM polymeric binders, which enhances its flexibility and allows for a greater range of fixing possibilities, including; with underfloor heating systems, in wet or dry environments, internally or externally

Instructions

Surface Preparation

• Allow all new substrates to dry fully i.e. new concrete should be allowed to dry for a minimum of 6 weeks and new cement screeds for a minimum of 3 weeks
• Ensure the surface is clean, dry and strong enough to support the combined weight of the tiles, adhesive and grout
• Check the substrate is flat and true
  – on floors, any gaps exceeding 3mm under a 2m straight edge should be leveled using Pro 50 Floor Leveller
• Prime any porous or dusty surfaces, i.e. plaster, plasterboard, vinyl sheets, plywood overlay, anhydrite and gypsum screeds, with Norcros Prime Bond
• In wet areas or those of intermittent wetting, moisture sensitive backgrounds i.e. plaster should be waterproofed using Norcros Wet Seal

Mixing and Application

• Mix the product with clean cold water; 1 part water to 3.5 parts adhesive powder (mix until smooth, lump-free consistency achieved)
  Note. mix only enough which can be used within the pot life; 30 minutes
• Using a suitably notched trowel, apply the adhesive to the wall or floor surface
• Comb to required bed thickness (max. 12mm thick) ensuring ribs all run in one direction
  Note. if fixing large/heavily-patterned tiles, apply additional adhesive to tile reverse
• Fix the tiles before the adhesive forms a skin (if a skin has formed, simply remove adhesive and apply fresh layer)
• Press tile firmly into the ribs of the adhesive and into position, with slight twisting/sliding action to ensure optimum adhesive contact
• Ensure you have left adequate joint spaces between tiles for grouting
• Clean off surplus adhesive from tile face and between tile joints
• Tiles can be grouted as soon as the adhesive bed is set, typically 3 hours

Recommendations

Rapid Porcelain & Stone Adhesive is not suitable for fixing to; single layers of timber, tongue and groove board, chipboard, plywood and steel – for these tiling applications use Tile Direct to Wood Rapid Kit

Rapid Porcelain & Stone Adhesive is a thin bed tile adhesive - for bed depths ranging from 5-25mm use Thick Bed Stone & Porcelain Adhesive
