Electric Underfloor Heating Systems

What is Electric Underfloor Heating?

Electric underfloor heating is an efficient form of heating that radiates heat evenly across the floor and distributes the heat in an efficient way throughout the rest of the room. Underfloor heating is a great heating alternative or addition in bathrooms, wet rooms, kitchens, and conservatories.

What types of electric underfloor heating are available through Tile Fix?

Tile Fix supplies two brands of underfloor heating, DEVI and Orbry. There are different types of underfloor heating systems: matting and cable.

Why Should You Install Electric Underfloor Heating System?

Heat emitted from an electric underfloor heating system rises and provides an even and consistent temperature throughout the entire room.
Uses less energy to heat a large surface area. Saves you money and reduces your carbon footprint.
Doesn't circulate dust like a convection heating method (radiators) reducing the amount of "dust traps" that appear.
As the heating system is hidden beneath the floor, you'll have more space in the room. No more worries about unsightly radiators.
No yearly inspections are required and there are no mechanical parts that can breakdown. No risk of flood or leaks from water pipes.
Work well in wet rooms as the floors will dry quicker, creating a safer showering environment.

Electric Underfloor Heating Installation Checklist

  • Determine which room you are going to install the underfloor heating in and note the floor finish, floor construction, and the size (m2).
  • Note where the kitchen and/or bathroom appliances and furniture will be located. Underfloor heating can't be fixed under kitchen units, baths, showers, or pedestal toilets. This will give you the remaining floor space (m2) available for the underfloor heating system.
  • Enter all of the information in the Underfloor Heating Selector to find the best underfloor heating system for your project. It will help to determine the correct amount of mat or cable that is required and also quote how much the entire underfloor heating system will cost.
  • Decide if you want to lay insulation boards beneath the heating system to improve the efficiency of the heat output. (Keep in mind this will affect the height of the floor.)
  • Decide on where the control panels will be located.
  • Read over the manufacturers' instructions and guides. Follow them precisely throughout the entire installation process to ensure that everything is installed properly.

Underfloor Heating Insulation

Benefits of Underfloor Heating Insulation

Insulation helps to maximise the thermal floor value. This increases the heating system's efficiency and output. With matting and cable systems, it's recommended to lay the system on top of underfloor heating insulation to improve the warm up time and increase energy efficiency.
