Dural Durabase Matting is a multi functioning decoupling matting system. It is designed to alleviate stress caused by lateral movement within substrates normally viewed as unstable. When used in conjunction with tiles, it serves to decouple the tiles and bridge any cracks.
You can use this where shrinkage occurs in your substrate, concrete floors, and timber based substrates for example. Other examples include chipboard, floorboards, MDF, metal surfaces, and asphalt. Rigid floor coverings on these surfaces can de-bond and crack due to lateral movement beneath. Dural Durabase Anti Crack Matting fixes this problem.
Durabase matting serves to decouple the tiled floors and bridge any cracks. Due to the structure of the matting, channels are created which act to equalise water vapour pressure. This allows water vapour pressure to be compensated for if there is any residual moisture present. The Durabase CI matting system also decouples the flooring from the foundations.
The popular Durabase CI Matting now has a sister product designed to use with electric underfloor heating systems too. Dural Durabase CI-FH is a decoupling matting that doubles as a carrier for electric underfloor heating cables. This saves you time and money as there is no need to lay uncoupling matting and underfloor heating mats.
