Ardex X60 PU Flex Resin Tile Adhesive (3kg)

Ardex X 60 PU Flex Resin Tile Adhesive is a two part polyurethane reaction resin that allows you to fix tiles to problematic substrates such as fibreglass, steel, and PVC coverings. You can also use it to tile over old existing tiles, and it will bond all tile types - even moisture sensitive natural stone. This resin tile adhesive is suitable for moisture sensitive substrates too, such as particle boards, plywood, plasterboard, gypsum fibre boards, fibre cement boards and plaster slabs.

Once cured, Ardex X 60 PU Flex resin tile adhesive is completely water resistant and is suitable for both internal and external areas, including swimming pools and areas of complete water immersion. It has a reliable bond to impermeable, smooth and vibrating substrates and is easy to apply with no special tools required. This rapid curing tile adhesive can receive light foot traffic and is groutable after approximately three hours.

DESCRIPTION

The BS EN 12004 designation for ARDEX X 60 PU FLEX classifies the adhesive as an ‘Improved reaction resin adhesive with reduced slip for internal and external tiling’.

USE

ARDEX X 60 PU FLEX is a two-part polyurethane adhesive ideal for fixing all tile types to problematic substrates such as GRP, steel and polyester, and in interior areas sensitive to moisture e.g. particle boards, plywood, plasterboards, gypsum fibre boards, fibre cement boards and plaster slabs. It is also suitable for adhering natural stone, aluminium and PVC coverings.

ARDEX X 60 PU FLEX is water resistant when fully cured and is easy to apply, with no special tools required.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The substrate must be clean, dry and free from any contaminants such as dirt, grease, oil and old paint, which must be completely removed prior to installation. Roughen polyester and remove all dust. If applying to chipboard, wax and other surface coatings must be sanded off, and the contained moisture must not exceed 10%. Steel plates must be free from rust and oil. It is recommended that all smooth, dense substrates be lightly sanded, removing all dust, to provide a mechanical key.

PRIMING

No priming required.

MIXING

Add Part B to Part A and mix with a drill and paddle on a slow speed until a homogenous and uniform coloured paste is achieved. Once mixed, the pot life of the adhesive is approximately 45 minutes at 20°C.

APPLICATION

After mixing, spread the adhesive in small portions onto the substrate to allow the reaction heat to dissipate. Using a notched trowel, evenly apply as much material that can be tiled within the products 60 minute working time. Place the tiles and adjust to the correct position. Do not apply to substrates that have a temperature of less than +10°C.

CLEANING AND DISPOSAL:

Use ARDEX Heavy Duty Adhesive Wipes or similar for cleaning tools and spills.

Part A mixed with Part B - Allow the residue of the mix to harden in the can and then dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

Part B – Mix with water in the Part B container and do NOT replace the lid. Leave overnight then dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

GROUTING

Grouting can proceed once the tile bed has hardened sufficiently so that the tiles will not be dislodged, usually after 3 hours. Both ARDEX-FLEX Cement Based, and ARDEX Epoxy Resin Based Tile Grouts can be used in conjunction with ARDEX X 60 PU FLEX.

Floor areas can receive light foot traffic after 3 hours, but should not be subjected to heavy machinery, equipment etc. until 12 hours after application.

PACKAGING

ARDEX X 60 PU FLEX is packed in metal containers.

STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE

Store in a dry place. ARDEX PU 60 FLEX can be stored for up to 12 months in the original unopened containers.
