Schluter Kerdi Board is an industry leading waterproof tile backer board designed to cover a broad range of uses. More than just a construction panel: our Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD is a true all-round talent. This lightweight and waterproof backerboard with a fleece surface can be fastened to the substrate with screws or adhered with tile adhesive. This creates an optimum foundation for tile installation. KERDI-BOARD has official approval as a bonded waterproofing assembly, making it an excellent fit for use in bathrooms. Whether creating a fully waterproofed wall or adding finishing touches such as a bench or shelving, there are multiple uses for this substrate, which is available in seven different thicknesses. With imprinted gridlines, KERDI-BOARD is easy to cut using a utility knife and creates no dust or mess.

Schluter Kerdi Board Top Tips

• For timber or metal stud frames up to 625 mm centres use 19-50mm thick boards.
• For timber or metal stud frames up to 400 mm centres use 12.5-50mm thick boards.
• For timber or metal stud frames up to 300 mm centres use 9-50mm thick boards.
• For masonry (Even and Flat) use 5-12.5mm thick boards fixed with tile adhesive 6-8mm notch trowel.
• For masonry (Uneven) use 9-50mm thick boards dot and dab fixed using flexible tile adhesive.

Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD is waterproof and resistant to any chemical stresses that typically occur in conjunction with tiled coverings. Where required, and provided the joints and connection areas are properly installed, KERDI-BOARD can be used in certified bonded waterproofing assemblies.

KERDI-BOARD is suitable for creating tiling substrates on green masonry, existing substrates of any kind, on stud structures made of wood or metal, for creating stand-alone straight or rounded partition walls, for panelling on-wall installations and pipes (pipe boxes), for panelling straight or rounded bathtubs and showers, for creating kitchen countertops, vanities, shelving or any other bathroom structures. It is equally suited for creating level substrates in floor areas when renovating bathrooms with foot traffic and similar spaces.

How to Use Schlüter Kerdi Board

Schluter Kerdi Boards are easily cut to size with a standard working knife. Each board features 1cm² gridlines printed on one side, which is helpful for neat and quick installation. These tile backer boards can be fully adhered in wall areas, or attached with dabs of tile adhesive.

Joints between panels can be reinforced with Schluter Kerdi Board ZSA Joint Reinforcement Tape if trowel applied covering materials such as plaster are to be applied to the board.

Once installed, tiles can be laid directly over the board using the thin-bed method with standard cementitious tile adhesive. Other suitable trowel applied coverings or plaster layers can be utilised, please contact Schluter for advice.

If you need to create fully waterproof areas like a wet room, all seams and joins in the board installation must made waterproof. Fully cover joints with the Schluter Kerdi Keba joint tape and embed it into Schluter Kerdi Coll L sealing adhesive. The seaming tapes should have at least 5 cm of overlap.

Schluter Kerdi Keba Sealing Tape is also suitable for creating functional connections to fixed structural elements such as door openings or windows of metal, wood or plastic. For this purpose, apply Schluter Kerdi Fix Sealant and Adhesive on the adhesive area of the fixed structure. Then apply Schluter Kerdi Coll L Waterproof Sealing Adhesive on the adhesive area of the board, and cover the entire joint area with sealing band.
